The Cii Team caught up with the scriptwriter of Cii’s Ramadaan Drama 1439. As usual the drama this year promises to be riveting stuff… all with the aim of educating and inspiring the Ummah. InshaAllah.
Bismillah
Q: It’s been two years since the team that brought us Legends of A Black Flag, 688 Insaaf Mansions, Heroes, etc, picked up the pen. What did this break do for you?
A: Let’s hope the two year break provided more experiences and adventures to shape this year’s drama inshaaAllah!
Q: That’s a question that comes to mind when listening to the drama. Where do you get the ideas from?
A: You honestly don’t want to know..I’m kidding, sometimes it’s experiences, or the experiences of others (people are going to stop confiding in me now!). At times it is just a random thought or themes communicated and directed by the producer
Q: Is writer’s block a real thing then?
A: Very, very much so. Compare it to a car coming up against an endless wall, no way out
Q: Sounds terrible, how can someone combat that, we all have writer’s block in some way or the other in our lives?
A: Two rakaats salaah and continuous dua and turning to Allah. Realizing that my efforts are nothing if the help of Allah is not with me…it actually teaches humbleness because we remember, La Hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, there is no power to do anything except with the help of Allah, I thought this was a piece of cake but then I realized nope, not even the simplest thing happens if Allah doesn’t will it
Q: Definitely. Not our wealth or intelligence is of any benefit without Allah’s decree, which is a theme touched on in this year’s drama. Can you tell us more about each character, I believe that there is no single main character?
A: That is correct, We have Abu Bakr who is becoming an Alim but is actually struggling with becoming a good Muslim and the temptation of friendship, Umar who is a Doctor and has to overcome heartache and haraam love. Uthmaan whose had a difficult childhood that still casts shadows on his present and Ali who is Palestinian and studying in South Africa, who is holding on like a rock, changing himself so he can change the landscape when he returns home
Q: What is interesting, is the names you’ve chosen ,the Khulafaa Raashideen.. is it based on Hayatus Sahaba like 313 Star Lane was?
A: Not really, we tried to focus on Seerah, the Sunnah and Salawaat this year as our spiritual theme. Of course, the Sahabah RA were the ones who took on this legacy and sacrificed their lives for it, and in this current climate we need to rediscover our love for them, follow their footsteps and know them, hopefully that will happen too.
Q: Why is it called you only live twice?
A: Because we believe in the opposite of YOLO, we don’t have another chance if we lose this life to create a better one in the akhirath
Q: Any last message for the listeners?
A: Ramadhan Mubarak to all the listeners, jazakAllah khayr for you support and duas over the years. We really appreciate it. Please forgive our mistakes, offer critique and make dua for us, our ikhlaas and acceptance. Enjoy your Ramadhan, guard your time, don’t let social media drown away your time, this is the month to work hard for Allah, make a timetable and see the difference inshaaAllah
Drama is played weekdays at 18:45. Launching on 21 May 2018
