The hearing of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s application to review the Section 89 Independent Panel report will continue in the Western Cape High Court on Thursday morning.
He wants the court to set aside the report, which found strong evidence that he may have violated his oath of office regarding the theft at his Phala Phala farm.
On Wednesday, lawyers representing Ramaphosa argued that the panel, which was led by retired Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, erred in its mandate and applied the wrong legal standard, with no interrogation of the evidence before it, which remains untested.
The nine respondents include some political parties represented in Parliament as well as National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza.
