The US military’s Central Command on Thursday said a KC-135 refuelling aircraft had crashed in western Iraq after an incident involving another aircraft.
“The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury, and rescue efforts are ongoing,” Centcom said in a statement, adding that the incident was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire.
“Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the aircraft went down in western Iraq, and the second landed safely.”
Centcom said it would release more information as the situation develops.

UAE residents get all-clear after missile alert
UAE authorities have advised the public that the “situation is currently safe” after a missile alert was issued.
The Ministry of Interior called on people to “immediately seek a safe place” in a message sent to mobile phone users shortly after 8.15am.
People were asked to stay away from windows, doors and open areas owing to “potential missile threats”.
The ministry shared a further update at 8.40am, stating that normal activities could be resumed.

Saudi Arabia intercepts 45 drones
Saudi Arabia has intercepted and destroyed 45 drones today (Friday 13 March), Defence Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Turki Al Malki has said.
Several drones were shot down over the Eastern Province, while others were destroyed across the Eastern and Central regions after entering Saudi airspace.
Authorities in the kingdom said the drones were intercepted and neutralised, without providing details on damage or casualties.
