On Tuesday morning, the Israeli military launched a naval assault on the southern Yemeni city of Hodeidah, marking an escalation in its ongoing confrontation with the Ansarallah group.
The attack came just hours after Israel issued evacuation orders for three Yemeni ports—Ras Isa, Hodeidah, and Salif—citing reports of a missile launched from Yemen toward Israel that reportedly failed to reach Israeli airspace.
According to Yemeni media, the Israeli navy struck the docks of Hodeidah port with two airstrikes. No casualties have been reported so far.
Israel confirmed its forces carried out the strike, noting that this was the first time its navy had been used in the Yemen campaign, which until now relied primarily on airpower.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that missile ships targeted the Hodeidah port in retaliation for recent drone and surface-to-surface missile attacks on Israel.
