Every verse of the Qur’an carries depth, guidance, and comfort. Certain verses strike a chord with different people at different times, at specific times, in specific situations, or during pivotal moments in our lives. We asked our Cii Radio family: “What is your favourite verse in the Qur’an, and why?”
Here are just 10 of the heartfelt, thought-provoking responses:

“Indeed, after hardship comes ease.” – Surah Ash-Sharh (94:6)وَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا”
I was drowning in financial problems. This Ayah and others kept me going. This verse reminded me ease is promised – not maybe, but certainly.— Yusuf, Lenasia

“So remember Me; I will remember you.” – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:152)فَاذْكُرُونِي أَذْكُرْكُمْ”
It’s very easy for me to be distracted in Salaah, but keeping this ayah on the top of my mind in salaah, reminds me that I have a special connection with my Allah. — Amina, Durban

“And He found you lost and guided [you].” – Surah Ad-Duhaa (93:7)وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ”
I didn’t grow up religious. This verse told me it’s never too late. Alhamddulillah after Ramadan I’ve become more conscious of my Salaah and Quran— Ziyaad, Mayfair

“And whoever puts their trust in Allah – He is sufficient for them.” – Surah At-Talaq (65:3)وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ”
I went through a rough patch with my son. it was not easy at all at home. Constant fights and tension. I held onto this ayat, and Allah placed him on the right path, alhamdulillah.— Sarah, Cape Town

“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” – Surah Ar-Ra’d (13:28)أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ”
Therapy didn’t work. Distractions didn’t work. Dhikr did. I was never a person that thought anxiety was real, but then it hit me hard. Alhamdulillah the coolness of Thikr cannot be described— Bilal, Laudium

“Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive.” – Surah Hud (11:61)إِنَّ رَبِّي قَرِيبٌ مُّجِيبٌ”
It crushed the idea that I needed to be perfect before calling on Him. Allah will respond to anyone in any condition, as long as we are grateful and remorseful— Farhana, Pretoria

“And do not despair of the mercy of Allah.” – Surah Az-Zumar (39:53)لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ”
I lived with guilt for years. This verse told me to snap out of it, Sincere tawbah can erase everything from the books. Allah is Most Merciful — Naeem, Port Elizabeth

“Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.” – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286)لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا”
This reminded me again and again, that Allah Knows I can handle this test, if I couldn’t I wouldn’t be given this test by Him.— Anon Sister, Joburg

“He knows what is in every heart.” – Surah Al-Mulk (67:13)إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ”
I don’t need to explain anything. Allah Knows it all and understands my situation fully. — Tariq Mohammed, Vereeniging

“And it may be that you dislike something which is good for you.” – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:216)وَعَسَىٰ أَن تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ”
Losing my job hurt. But it led me back to Allah. Alhamdulillah, this year was the first year I sat for Itikaaf, and it was what is needed. Alhamdulillah just after Eid i was offered a new job with higher pay. Allah is the Provider, He Knows what is best”. Samir, Mayfair West.
