South Africa’s vaccine rollout plan is being extended to the general population, beginning with those over the age of 60. The registration is in full swing with more than 500 000 people in the age group already registering. But there have been several media reports in recent weeks about patients who have suffered adverse effects from the vaccine after inoculation. These range from a mild allergic reaction to blood clotting which in some cases can be fatal. Government has been looking into a no-fault compensation fund. What are the implications?
