Yaum Un Jadeed – Steven Cohen, Durbanites Against Plastic Pollution – DAPP
It has been predicted that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean and more than 90% of sea birds will have ingested plastic. With the recent lockdown and pandemic, there has been an increase in polystyrene and plastic items being discarded and thus adding to the already growing issue especially in coastal cities like Durban. What exacerbates the issue is the disregard that municipalities and ultimately government have toward the increasing pollution of our environments.
