Majority of the 35000 Cataract blind patients are in rural areas of the Gauteng province. Rural areas of Gauteng are away from the major health facilities where the operations can be performed. IMASA & ICSA cataract project has already started working on the Mobile Cataract Unit for last six months.

We will travel in mobile unit with all the state of the art equipments to the rural areas and choose one of the hospitals having some facility of Cataract operations. The hospital facility will be used with our equipment to perform the cataract operations by experienced eye surgeons. Post operative medication will be provided by the mobile unit but the follow up will be done by the doctors of same hospital.

We hopefully will perform 500 free of charge Cataract operations in a year through this Mobile Cataract Unit.

The Mobile Cataract Unit will be stationed at IMASA/ICSA center (Bait-ul-Islam- 51 Twickenham Avenue Auckland Park Johannesburg) in a newly build garage. The estimated budget for this Mobile Unit is 2.5 million Rand.

WE NEED YOUR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION FOR CATARACT MOBILE UNIT.
