The border crossing between Jordan and Syria was opened on Monday after a three-year closure, according to a Jordanian government spokeswoman.

“The Jaber-Naseeb border crossing will be open for 8 hours a day,” Jumana Ghunaimat said Monday.

She said technical committees from Jordan and Syria agreed on necessary measures to reopen the terminal during a meeting held Sunday at the border crossing, the official Petra news agency reported.

“The meetings resulted in an agreement to reopen the crossing as of October 15,” she said.
Ghunaimat described the Jaber-Naseeb border crossing as “a vital artery for trade between Jordan and Syria”.
