Emirates offers nutritious inflight iftaar meals this Ramadan

Ramadaan has begun and Emirates is fully prepared for the important period.

The airline has announced it will be providing an on-board iftar service for passengers breaking their fasts while in the air.

The iftaar boxes are crafted in an authentic Arabesque design and provide a nutritious meal of couscous salad and grilled chicken or moudardara and roasted chicken, sandwiches, spinach fatayer or tomato and onion fatayer, assorted sweets, dates, laban and water, and this menu will be updated mid-Ramadan.

The meals will be available to passengers across all cabin classes and programming on the inflight entertainment system will also be altered. Water and dates will be handed out in the airport to those breaking their fast on the ground.

The special meals will be available on select flights that coincide with iftaar times. This includes flights to and from the Gulf region as well as flights catering to Umrah groups travelling to Jeddah and Medina during the month of Ramadan.

Emirates uses a special tool to calculate the correct time for breaking the fast, using the aircraft’s longitude, latitude and altitude for the greatest level of accuracy inflight. When the sun sets, passengers will be informed of the iftaar time by the captain.

Emirates lounges in the airport provide dedicated prayer rooms and will also be serving Arabic coffee, dates and sweets.

The airline will also be celebrating Eid with 20 percent discount on on-board duty free purchases over Dhs95 from Monday June 11 to Friday June 15.

And from Thursday June 14 until Sunday June 17, passengers can look forward to sweet treats on select flights.
