‘Syrian army is targeting us with air strikes’

The Syrian province of Aleppo is again under heavy bombardment by government warplanes targeting rebel fighters.

The air raids have forced thousands of civilians to flee the area and set up makeshift camps in the countryside.

Millions of Syrians have lost their homes during the country’s six-year war, which has seen the Syrian government, backed by Russia and Iran, trying to quell uprisings by opposition groups.

‘Amnesty report warns of crime against humanity in Syria’
Amnesty International says the Syrian government’s ‘surrender or starve’ campaign targeting civilians constitutes a crime against humanity.

It’s calling for an end to what it calls ‘the dark stain on the world’s conscience’.

A new report says government forces surrounded and bombed densely-populated, opposition-controlled areas.

Thousands of people were given an ultimatum to abandon their homes or die. Amnesty is asking for an independent body to investigate and prosecute those responsible.
