Qatar Airways announced a new service yesterday evening that would allow passengers travelling to the US to borrow a laptop for the duration of their flight.
In a statement, the airline said the step is a “unique solution” to deal with the American restriction on electronic devices in order to allow passengers to continue working during flights.
The company’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said: By providing this laptop loan service we can ensure that our passengers on flights to the US can continue to work whilst on-board.
Laptops will be offered to all passengers travelling Business Class to the US starting next week.
Passengers can receive the laptops after boarding the plane and upload their work using a USB.
The airline also announced it will provide a service to collect passengers’ banned electronic devices at the boarding gate. They will then package the devices and transport them safely as registered luggage during the flight and return them to the travellers once they land in the US. This service will be offered to all travellers.
