Arafat Day, when Hajis stand in prayer on the plains of Arafat near Makkah at the peak of the annual pilgrimage, will be on Sunday, Sept. 11, the semi-official Sabq.org website announced on Thursday, quoting sources.
It said no one sighted the new moon in Saudi on Thursday evening. An authoritative statement from the Saudi Supreme Court has not yet been issued.
Eid Al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 12,in Saudi Arabia, said the website, adding that Saturday, Sept. 3 will be the first day of Dul Hijjah.
Meanwhile South Africans will scan the skies this evening in search of the cresent of Zhul hijjah.
If seen this evening,South Africans will be celebrating the festival of Eid ul Adha on Monday 12 September 2016.
