Henna stains are dark, floral, so beautiful to look at. Outfits are carefully chosen, everything matched perfectly, shoes, accessories, hijab. Some choose not to wear hijab. Hair is styled, makeup done so neatly… all ready for that one thing, a picture.
My dear sister…
Somewhere along the day, we start spending more time taking photos than actually being present. Instead of spending time with family and creating memorable moments, we choose Click after click, pose after pose. Instead of enjoying the moment… we’re focused on getting the “perfect” shot to upload.
And we post it all.
Even though we know how real nazar (evil eye) is… we still share so much of ourselves. It’s not just the outfit anymore. It’s the henna, the gifts, the money, the table, the details… everything becomes something to show.
And sometimes… even more than that.
You’ll see a sister in niqab, yet a part of her face is shown. Half covered, half visible. And you pause and wonder… what was the purpose of covering then, my dear sister?
Let this be a gentle reminder, when we post publicly, it is not just “us” who see it. It reaches people we don’t know. It reaches eyes we never intended. Even another woman’s husband may come across it.
We might not think much of it… but it matters.
Sometimes, we just need to pause and ask ourselves, why am I posting this?
Is it to share a moment… or to show people the life I have?
Because when we constantly display what we have, we are opening the door for nazar (evil eye). And at the same time, we may be unknowingly hurting someone else. Someone who had a simple Eid. Someone who could not afford what we are showing so easily.
Not everything needs to be shared.
Some things are more beautiful when they are kept between you, your loved ones and Allah.
Eid is not about pictures. It’s about presence. Its about, connection, gratitude… those quiet moments that don’t need a camera to be meaningful.
My dear sister…
Protect your blessings. Protect your peace. Protect your modesty, not just in what you wear, but in what you share.
Because your worth was never in likes, comments, or views.
And some of the most beautiful parts of your life… were never meant for the world to see.
