Israeli military police yesterday raided Al-Aqsa Mosque, attacked students and evicted them from the area and closed Al-Rahma Gate which leads to the holy site, witnesses said.
At the same time, the Israeli military police arrested five Palestinian worshippers, including a woman named Nazmiyeh Bkeerat.
Witnesses said Israeli occupation police reopened the gate after several attempts by angry Palestinian worshippers to enter the area through the door.
According to the witnesses, hundreds of Palestinian worshippers also performed prayers in front of the closed gate in an attempt to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to reopen it.
During the daytime, the Israeli military police facilitated the entry of 70 Israeli Jewish settlers, including 20 students of religious Jewish schools into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Activists published several pictures on social media showing the Israeli military police beating and brutally attacking Palestinian worshippers.
The Council of Endowment and Islamic Affairs called in a statement for the Israeli occupation to reopen Al-Rahma Gate and respect the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
