21 November 2018| 13 Rabi ul Awwal 1440| Muhammad Sheik
Arrested in January 2018 spending 9 months in an Israeli prison – Osama Tamimi was tortured severely along with his relative Mohammed. His parents are activists Bilal and mom Manal, from the village of Nabi Saleh. Manal is known as the “Palestinian Supermom” after an Al Jazeera documentary highlighted the struggles of mothers protecting their children from Israeli aggression.
Osama has also been imprisoned for 9 months and tortured by the Israelis.
Since the Great March of Return protests began in March this year at the Gaza border, hundreds have lost their lives with thousands more being injured. A large number of these have been young people. Young Palestinians form the backbone of the struggle against apartheid Israel with many paying the ultimate price.
Osama Tamimi is currently in South Africa hosted by the NGO 2 Suns Shamsaan along with his relatives Fadel Tamimi and Mohammed Tamimi who is in the country undergoing reconstructive surgery after being shot by Israeli forces at close range.
Osama Tamimi spoke to Muhammad Sheik on Channel Islam International about what life has been like living under Israeli occupation, his harrowing ordeal in prison and his hopes for the future…
