Eastern Ghouta: New attack by Syrian regime claims 6 more civilian lives

Syrian regime warplanes killed six civilians, including two children and a woman, in a new attack on eastern Ghouta near the capital Damascus.
Sources in the Syrian Civil Defence teams, also known as White Helmets, said late last night Syrian regime warplanes launched raids on Eastern Ghouta.
The sources said the Civil Defence teams have continued search and rescue operations and the transfer of wounded to health centres.
Twenty-one air raids were carried out against the cities of Harasta, Irbeen and Hamuriya in Eastern Ghouta. The cities of Douma, Saqba, Irbeen, Harsta and the towns of Beit Shela were also targeted with artillery shells.
The United Nations said on Saturday that 277 civilians were killed in Syria within a week, including 230 killed in air strikes in Idlib and Eastern Ghouta in the Syrian countryside.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Bin Ra’ad Zeid Al-Hussein, said in a statement that 277 civilians were killed in Syria between 4-9 February.
Last week, the Syrian regime launched a chlorine gas attack on the opposition-held town of Sarqeb in Idlib, seven civilians suffocated in the attack.
