The Israeli government’s Constitution Committee is to discuss a draft bill tomorrow which would force Palestinians to pay three times as much as Israelis to submit petitions to the Supreme Court.
The committee is expected to approve the fees which will be charged.
Should Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked support the proposal and it be approved by the committee, the news fees will come into effect immediately.
“This law is racist and aims to prevent the Palestinians from petitioning the Supreme Court in any decision it takes, especially in those decisions that are related to the Palestinians’ fate and the seizure of their lands, such as demolition, confiscation and similar decisions,” a member of the Joint List said according to the Safa News Agency.
The source expected the law to be ratified.
The law, the source added, was in addition to numerous discriminatory laws that are being passed in the Knesset.
They are similar to Palestinians being charged with “demolition costs” when their properties are razed by occupation forces, the source explained.
