Germany to Use Voice Recognition Software to Detect Migrants’ Origin

Germany is to begin testing voice recognition software that can tell which country migrants come from without documentation.
It’s hoped the technology will weed out those who falsely claim to be Syrian in knowledge that refugees from that country are more likely to be allowed to stay.
Syrian refugees are given favourable asylum in Europe because of the country’s ongoing civil war.
It’s claimed some Arabic-speaking migrants deliberately conceal their identities and claim they’re from Syria, to improve their chances of staying in Europe.
But Germany’s federal office for migrants and refugees will use voice recognition software within the next fortnight to sift out wrongful claims.
Linguists, however, argue the software is inaccurate and shouldn’t be used.
